The Chicago Bulls' preseason largely hinges on Caleb Wilson. That's understandable given his stature as the No. 4 pick. That said, other young players are making waves early, including Dailyn Swain.
Swain, the No. 15 pick out of Texas, had a standout performance Wednesday in the first preseason game against the Phoenix Suns. Altogether, Swain finished with 10 points and 6 assists. He was also 3-for-3 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line in a 124-117 victory.
On Friday, the Bulls hosted the Memphis Grizzlies in their second preseason game. Before the game, head coach Tiago Splitter spoke about the bigger role he expects Swain to take on going forward. Specifically, Splitter says that Swain is destined to be a primary ball handler. More than anything, he wants him to do the simple things.
“Just to be aggressive, just be himself,” Splitter said to Gavin Dorsey of Bulls Roundtable. “I know it's a lot for him as a young guy.”
Then, Splitter elaborated that Swain will be a primary ball handler for the foreseeable future, per Joel Lorenzi of The Athletic.
“He's still getting used to that role, but I think in the future, I see him as a primary ball handler, creating for us,” Splitter said.

Swain's enhanced position comes as Tre Jones is out with left hip soreness. As a result, Swain is the back-up point guard behind Josh Giddey, with a rotation that is already thin.
The Bulls and Grizzlies will tip off at 7:00 pm CST/8:00 pm EST at the United Center.
