Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury undercard could feature big-punching heavyweight with 100 per cent KO ratio

Eddie Hearn is planning to book heavy-handed prospect Teremoana Teremoana on the Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury undercard.

The towering 6ft 6in Aussie Olympian extended his 100 per cent knockout rate with a second-round stoppage victory over DeAndre Savage on Wednesday on the Gold Coast.

Teremoana, who is yet to see a third round during a destructive 12-0 start to life in the paid ranks, stated after the bout that his next outing could come on the Joshua-Fury bill.

“I’m looking forward to the challenges to come,” said Teremoana.

“What I have heard on the grapevine is that I should be on the AJ-Fury undercard.

“That’s the old heavyweights giving up their mantle, so it would be so good to get the new generation there and show that us Aussies have the thunder from Down Under.”

When broadcaster Ben Damon posed the question to Hearn, the British boxing mogul replied: “That is definitely the plan.

“We have got to step up the opposition. That’s what we did tonight, supposedly…

“Teremoana is too good. You see the fear on Savage’s face. As soon as he landed, his eyes were popping out of his head. 

“He didn’t even land that clean; he didn’t want to get up. I wouldn’t want to get up. 

“But we need to find someone who will get up because that is all part of the progression and journey.”

Organisers are planning to stage Joshua vs Fury sometime in November, but there are still hurdles to be crossed.

Saudi powerbroker Turki Alalshikh and streaming service Netflix want the fight to take place in the United States, with New York’s Madison Square Garden reportedly the frontrunner to host the event.

However, it is currently written into Joshua’s contract that the all-British showdown must take place in the UK.

“We signed for this fight in the UK,” Hearn said earlier this week.

“We are desperate to deliver this fight for UK fans. However, everybody else wants the fight in America — Turki Alalshikh, Netflix.

“I can’t speak on behalf of Tyson Fury, I don’t see him kicking up a fuss.

“Madison Square Garden. So, they’re telling us this is the place it’s going to do the biggest numbers; this is the place it’ll be the biggest fight.

“I disagree. But in the end we’ll fight, and we’ll fight to a point where they’ve breached the contract by doing it in America, or we come to an agreement.”
