Jerry Jones is smiling with Cowboys’ insane $15.5 billion valuation that blows competition out of water

The Dallas Cowboys are America’s Team, and the money backs that up. The NFC East football squad was just valued at $15.5 billion by Sportico, making Jerry Jones’ franchise far and away the most valuable in all of sports.

On Dallas’ heels were the Los Angeles Rams ($12.7 billion), New York Giants ($12 billion), New England Patriots ($10.4 billion), and New York Jets ($10.35 billion). Clearly, big-market teams rule supreme, but the Cowboys have been able to get into a world of their own by accumulating a vast and loyal fanbase.

The average NFL team is now worth $9.34 billion, which is up 31% from last year’s $7.13 billion. Sportico’s valuation launched in 2020, and there had never before been a bigger spike.

Sportico’s valuation comes out on the same day in which the Los Angeles Lakers were sold. Mark Walter bought the team for $10 billion last year and is now selling the team a year later to Josh Kushner and Bob Iger for an NBA-record-breaking $12 billion. That figure is incredibly high, especially considering the team was sold for a full $2 billion less just last year. Even so, it proves that football is America’s sport, and the Cowboys are America’s Team. Nine of the top 10 most valuable franchises are NFL teams, with the lone other franchise in the top 10 being the most valued NBA program.
