Dodgers star Blake Snell’s feat proves he’s still electric on mound despite past injury concerns

Los Angeles Dodgers star pitcher Blake Snell made his return from injury on Tuesday night against the Kansas City Royals. Snell pitched well, as he recorded 10 strikeouts while allowing just one earned run across six innings of work on the mound. Snell has dealt with injury concerns over the years, but he’s been one of the best strikeout pitchers in the entire sport while on the mound. MLB Network shared an impressive feat that proves just how electric Snell can be.

The southpaw is now tied for second with Gerrit Cole for most starts of striking out 10 or more batters in a game since 2021. Cole and Snell only trail Dylan Cease. What makes the feat even more impressive for Snell is the fact that he’s started less games than any of the other four pitchers mentioned with 116 outings.

Of course, Snell would love to have more starts. The reason he’s been limited has been because of injuries.

In 2021 with the San Diego Padres, Snell made 27 starts. He then made 24 in 2022 and 32 in 2023. Snell proved just how good he can be during a full season, as he won the National League Cy Young in 2023.

In 2024, however, Snell joined the San Francisco Giants and was limited to only 20 starts. The left-hander signed with the Dodgers for the 2025 campaign but made only 11 starts, and Snell has just two starts this season.

Nevertheless, Blake Snell could give the Dodgers a crucial boost down the stretch of the season as long as he avoids injuries.
