Anthony Joshua reveals how many years he has left in boxing ahead of return

Anthony Joshua isn’t ready to hang up his gloves just yet.

The Watford powerhouse is set to return to the ring on July 25 for a warm-up bout with lesser-known Albanian Kristian Prenga.

Victory there will launch Joshua into a long-awaited all-British showdown with Tyson Fury at the back end of the year.

Many had anticipated that the Fury fight would be Joshua’s last dance.

However, AJ believes he still has plenty of gas left in the tank.

How many more years has Anthony Joshua got left?

Asked how much longer he envisages himself fighting for, Joshua told assembled media on Monday: “For me, maybe ’til like 40.

“It’s only like three or four years… I’m coming up to 37 in October, so it’s only three years; it’ll go quick [sic].

“Obviously, it’s gonna be tough, but I definitely think I’m tough enough to do it.

“Why not, why not? I’m definitely more mature.”

Joshua’s return to the ring comes in the wake of a tragic car crash in December that killed two of his close friends, Sina Ghami and Latif ‘Latz’ Ayodele.

AJ sustained minor injuries but has since made a full recovery and is now in the midst of a camp with Oleksandr Usyk and his team in Spain.

Usyk, who defeated Joshua twice in 2020 and 2021, believes that his former foe has what it takes to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

And Joshua is confident that he can fulfil his mentor’s prophecy.

Anthony Joshua’s undisputed dream

“You know I had to take time to think about that. First, I was like f****** hell,” he said of Usyk’s comments.

“But I get it. Why not? I can. He sees it. I know I can do it. I can. So, let’s just f****** go for it.

“That’s the goal. How do we get there? Don’t just say it, lay me out a road map.

“See with me, give me work, tell me what to do, I do it.

“So that’s the road map, undisputed champion, we’re on the journey. July 25 is getting back on the gravy train.”
