Angelina Jolie’s daughter Zahara’s impact on Angel Bryant, per Gizelle Bryant
In the latest episode of her Reasonably Shady podcast, Gizelle Bryant spoke about the connection between her daughter, Angel, and Angelina Jolie’s daughter, Zahara Jolie. Both Angel and Zahara attend Spelman College and are members of the on-campus chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
In a segment on the show, Bryant spoke about how Zahara has played a “big sister” role to Angel as her prophyte.
“So, Zahara, Angelina Jolie’s daughter, goes to Spelman. She’s a senior and she’s about to graduate. She’s one of Angel’s pros, so she got into the sorority before Angel and brought her in. She’s been very kind to Angel and very “big sisterly” to her. They have a relationship and it’s very sweet to me. She really felt like she could help—not that me and Angelina are in the same public sphere, okay? Not quite! However, there are similarities, right? And Zahara definitely wanted to help Angel from that perspective, I think, as much as she could, which I think is so sweet.”
She also spoke about attending a mother-daughter luncheon alongside Angelina and Zahara and her experience.
“So, there was a mother-daughter luncheon and Zahara asked Angel if I could come. We were their guests, so we sat at their table and it was great. I didn’t know that Angelina and Zahara were going to be giving a speech, which they did. They kind of did it together, and Zahara was happy-crying. She was like, ‘My mom is a superhero, my mama is like a warrior.’ She told the story of how Angelina adopted her when she was six months old, and that whole story was just very sweet. You could tell Angelina was just being a regular mom; she was just in ‘mom mode,’ which was great to see.”
In a private moment, Bryant said that she commended Jolie for sending Zahara to Spelman College.
“Then at one point, the girls wanted to take a picture with their moms. So we go over to the side, we take our little picture, and I said to Angelina, ‘You know what, it is obvious that Zahara was raised right.” Because she is the sweetest, kindest, smartest 21-year-old…I told her, ‘Angelina, it’s amazing that you decided to allow her to go to Spelman and to be a part of her culture.’ And she said, ‘Well, you know, I felt like that’s what was needed.’ And I said, ‘No, no, no. What you don’t understand is, you knew that’s what she needed.'”
