Alex Caruso says Thunder are ‘ready for war’ ahead of Game 7 vs Spurs
OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma City Thunder guard Alex Caruso isn’t concerned over his team’s temperament ahead of Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. Although the Thunder will face the Spurs without Jalen Williams and guard Ajay Mitchell, Caruso is confident in his teammates, as the defending champions have been in this position before.
Caruso revealed how he sees confidence in each of his Thunder teammates, knowing the tall task that lies ahead in facing the Spurs one final time this season for a ticket to the NBA Finals.
“It puts you at ease knowing that you’re going to get the best from each guy. They’re going to go out there and put their best foot forward and do what they need to do to sacrifice for the team to try to win the game, which is all you can do. All you can ask for is to go out there and play your best. Let the results fall where they may,” Caruso said. “But looking around the locker room, there’s no doubt in my mind that these guys are ready to go to war for each other.”
While Caruso and the Thunder have the experience of winning two Game 7s, including last year’s Finals en route to a title, it doesn’t mean the defending champions are at ease against the Spurs.
“You don’t want to be comfortable in a Game 7,” Caruso said. “If you’re comfortable, you’re probably not edgy enough. You probably don’t have a high enough sense of urgency.”
Caruso is expecting a hard-fought battle between the Thunder and the Spurs, as most fans wouldn’t expect anything less from the two teams that ended the regular season with the NBA’s two best records.
Alex Caruso reacts to Thunder losing Jalen Williams for Game 7

Thunder veteran Alex Caruso reacted to Jalen Williams’ Game 7 absence against the Spurs with disappointment. Caruso, reminding reporters of Williams’ vital role in last season’s championship run, says the Thunder are a better team when he’s in uniform.
“It sucks. We’re a better team when he’s playing,” Caruso said. “He’s an incredible player. I think the awards and accolades he has achieved in his young career so far kind of speak to that.”
The Thunder will host the Spurs in Game 7 on Saturday.
