Adam Schefter’s eye-opening revelation on David Bailey’s canceled Jets visit

The New York Jets will be an exciting team to watch in the 2026 NFL Draft. New York enters the draft with two first-round picks, including the second overall selection. One piece of breaking news could be a clue to New York’s thought process just one week before the draft.

The Jets were supposed to have a top 30 visit on Thursday with Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey, per NFL reporter Connor Hughes. However, New York decided to cancel that visit.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared an eye-opening revelation on why New York decided to cancel that visit.

“Jets had all the information they already needed on David Bailey; they felt there was no reason for a visit,” Schefter posted on social media.

It is difficult to determine what this development means for New York’s draft plans.

On one hand, it could suggest that New York is not interested in drafting Bailey. But it could just as easily mean that the Jets are confident in Bailey. If that is the case, they may not feel the need for another visit.

Some NFL draft analysts believe that Bailey is a perfect fit for the Jets. ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. even went with Bailey to the Jets over Ohio State’s Arvell Reese in his latest mock draft.

“I get the sense the Jets will take production over potential here in the great Bailey vs. Arvell Reese debate,” Kiper wrote. “New York was 31st in sacks last season with 26. It was 27th in pressure rate at 28.8%. Something has to change, and bringing in a player who led the FBS in pressure rate (20.2%) and tied for the lead in sacks (14.5) last season could do the trick.”

It will be exciting to get the final answer on April 23rd.
