Abbi Summers outlines unthinkable Tottenham scenario and relegation is only the start: ‘You can’t understand’

Abbi Summers won’t quite know how to cope if the unthinkable happens.

And this doesn’t just mean Tottenham getting relegated, things can go from bad to worse if rivals Arsenal and Chelsea twist the knife.

Spurs find themselves in an increasingly precarious position with four games of the Premier League season remaining.

The north Londoners occupy the final relegation spot, two points adrift of safety ahead of their clash with Aston Villa on Sunday.

And there is a real possibility that rivals Chelsea will have the chance to send them down to the Championship in their final home match, which has been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 19 at 8:15pm.

If that isn’t bad enough, Spurs could then have salt rubbed further in their wounds if their arch nemesis Arsenal win the Premier League.

The Gunners are locked in a thrilling title race with Manchester City that looks set to go right to the wire, currently leading the way by three points, having played a game more than their rivals.

‘What am I going to do?’

A potentially nightmarish turn of events for Tottenham has left talkSPORT’s Summers fearing for her own mental wellbeing.

Appearing on Inside talkSPORT alongside Manchester United and Arsenal supporters Flex and Romario Webster, the Spurs megafan admitted she won’t know where to turn if her worst fears come true.

Summers told her fellow panellists: “I don’t think you quite understand what could happen to my mental health this year.

“Spurs could get relegated, Chelsea could be the ones to send us down and you (Arsenal) can win the league.

“Just imagine, just deep that for one second. Imagine all of those things actually happen? What am I going to do?”

Tottenham’s ongoing demise this season has been taking its toll on Summers, who was reduced to tears on Inside Spurs after her beloved club were beaten by Crystal Palace in March.

And the presenter has insisted the banter will have to wait for a moment if Spurs do suffer an embarrassing relegation.

Summers continued: “You said to me last week, when you do go down, how much can we tease you about it?

“And I said, as long as you check in first and say, ‘Are you ok?’, you can do whatever you want.

“You know I would be the same if I was the other way around. You just must care for my mental health first. I’ll be like, ‘No’. And then it’s like, ‘Cool, I’ve checked in.’ Crack on.”

“You two (Flex and Webster) cannot understand what I am living. You can’t possibly understand what this feels like.

“This is not an if, but or maybe. We are probably going down at this point. You can’t understand.”

What’s next for Spurs?

Tottenham now have just four games left to save themselves from a first relegation from the top-flight in 49 years.

Sitting 18th in the Premier League table, Spurs could fall five points behind relegation rivals West Ham if they beat Brentford on Saturday, with their trip to Villa Park not until Sunday night.

After this, Roberto De Zerbi‘s side face in-form Leeds on May 11, before their huge penultimate clash away to Chelsea.

And Spurs’ survival hopes could all come down to the final day, when they host Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on May 24.
