Yankees’ Aaron Boone drops encouraging Aaron Judge injury update, but there’s a catch

The New York Yankees are looking to compete in the American League East standings despite currently being without Aaron Judge due to a ribs injury. While initial reports suggested the slugger could miss four to six weeks with the injury, Judge decided to not comment on a potential timeline for a return. The Yankees also have not revealed an official timeline for his return from injury, but manager Aaron Boone is confident that Judge will play again in 2026.

“Yes, yeah,” Boone responded when asked if he is confident that Judge will return this season, via New York Post Sports. “And he’s very confident.”

Boone was then asked why he is so confident.

“Just the nature of the injury and hearing the doctors talk,” Boone said. “We just haven’t put a timeline on it because we don’t want to do that and miss the target or make the target, you know, or anything like that. I think there’s pretty strong confidence that he will be back and fully healthy.”

Judge, 34, was hitting .248/.375/.533 across 59 games played before landing on the injured list. He had 17 home runs as well. Unless he is able to avoid missing too much time, Judge may fail to win his third consecutive MVP this year. Nevertheless, his primary focus is on being ready for the postseason and helping the Yankees win the World Series for the first time since 2009.

As for the Yankees, they are playing the Cleveland Guardians in the second contest of their three-game series on Tuesday night.
