Wyndham Clark shocks Kay Adams with ‘week-long girlfriend’ comment ahead of The Players

Wyndham Clark left sports broadcaster Kay Adams in disbelief after a cheeky comment ahead of The Players Championship this week.

The golf star spoke to Adams’ show, Up and Adams, on Wednesday morning, before the event gets going on Thursday.

As the American host asked Clark about his regular changing of drivers, he managed to twist the moment into a funny clip.

The 2023 US Open champion said: “Sometimes it’s nice to have a week-long girlfriend, you know? I’m just kidding!”

Adams then smiled and gasped in shock, before asking: “Wyndham, are you kidding?!”

To which Clark clarified: “Yeah, I’m kidding, I just haven’t found the right one, and when you find the right one, you lock it down.”

The 32-year-old, who was clearly following along with the joke and hinting towards something other than his drivers, laughed.

And Adams chuckled too, putting her microphone down on the table and laying her face down on it in disbelief.

Things didn’t stop there though, as Adams continued to the ‘driver’ talk, saying: “You’ve really been swiping left and right on them!”

So then Clark added: “We’re still talking about drivers, right?”

Then, finally, Adams was able to get a serious answer from the PGA Tour star, who addressed his driver changes.

Clark has switched drivers four times in 2026 already, and he’s now settling on one he will be using at The Players this week.

“I’m on a TaylorMade right now,” he explained. “I’m going to give a shoutout to Adrian, the fitter for TaylorMade. He did an amazing job.

“We did a little shaft change and everything is dialled in right now.

“I’m a free agent and sometimes it’s nice to spice things up [and switch drivers], the honeymoon stage can be really nice.”

When is Clark in action at The Players?

The Players Championship gets started on Thursday, March 12.

Play is scheduled to get started at 11:40am UK time.

Clark will be in the group of later starters for the opening round of play, teeing off at 5:30pm UK time.

He is then in the earlier group to start his second round, teeing off at 12:40pm in the UK.
