Packers’ Christian Watson is already pleading for Tucker Kraft extension after $92M deal

The Green Bay Packers recently gave wide receiver Christian Watson a $92 million contract extension. But he’s hoping he isn’t the only Packers pass catcher to get paid.

Watson is advocating for tight end Tucker Kraft to get an extension as well. He’s hopeful his latest message gets the ball rolling on a new deal, via Matt Schneidman of the Athletic.

“Honestly I don’t,” Watson said of any knowledge of a new Kraft contract. “I’m trying to put it out in the air. Trying to speak it into existence and hopefully it’s sooner rather than later.”

Kraft appeared in just eight games during the 2025 season after suffering a torn ACL. But in that time, the tight end caught 32 passes for 489 yards and six touchdowns. Despite his injury, Kraft still tied Watson and Romeo Doubs for the team lead in touchdowns.

A year prior, the tight end set new career-highs across the board with 50 grabs for 707 yards and seven touchdowns. His three years total with the Packers have resulted in 113 receptions for 1,551 yards and 15 scores.

Back healthy in 2026, the Packers will once again be looking for Kraft to be a touchdown threat. They finished the 2025 season 17th in passing offense, averaging 212.8 yards per game. With the return of Kraft and the continual development of Watson, Green Bay believes they should look much stronger through the air.

When it comes to the tight end’s future, he is set to be a free agent after the season. A return back to health and red zone dominance would show the Packers why Kraft deserves a long-term deal.
