World Cup star could rival Harry Kane for starting spot as he nears £45million Bayern Munich deal

Bayern Munich are set to sign PSV star Ismael Saibari in a transfer worth in excess of £45million, talkSPORT understands.

The 25-year-old has already agreed personal terms with the German giants ahead of his proposed five-year deal at the Allianz Arena.

His medical is set to take place in America, with Saibari currently Stateside due to Morocco‘s involvement in the World Cup.

And Saibari, capable of playing as an attacking midfielder or striker, made an instant impression on his tournament debut over the weekend.

Starting up front for the Atlas Lions, he expertly broke the deadlock for the African nation in his side’s eventual 1-1 draw with Brazil.

Latching onto a through ball from Real Madrid‘s Brahim Diaz, Saibari beautifully chipped over the onrushing Alisson to spark wild scenes in New Jersey.

His brilliant opener was then cancelled out by Vinicius Jr’s stunner as both countries were forced to settle for a point apiece.

Saibari has three goals in his last three matches when leading the line for Morocco.

And that could be the position where Bayern boss Vincent Kompany decides to play him in Bavaria.

How good is Ismael Saibari?

England skipper Harry Kane is the club’s undisputed talisman having fired in 146 goals in 147 outings in his three years since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.

But Bayern have struggled to find an adequate back-up option for the Three Lions‘ record goalscorer.

The 2025/26 season saw the Bundesliga holders bring in Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea on loan.

However, despite scoring 11 goals in all competitions, Bayern decided against taking up their option to turn his temporary stay into a permanent switch.

Saibari has proven to be a reliable goalscorer in the Netherlands – helping PSV win the three consecutive Eredivisie titles.

In each of the last three years, he has bettered his tally for the campaign, starting from the 2023/24 term which saw him find the back of the net on eight occasions.

The 2024/25 season saw him bang in 15 goals, while the last campaign resulted in 19 strikes from 37 outings.

While he closes in on a move to Bayern, his priority for now will be looking to fire Morocco to the World Cup knockout stages.

Morocco face Group C table-toppers Scotland in their next fixture, before pitting their wits against Haiti in their final game.
