Wings star Arike Ogunbowale’s quiet night joins short list of career goose eggs

Arike Ogunbowale had another rare scoring night she would rather forget as the Dallas Wings persevered in their upset win over the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday night.

Ogunbowale is going through the eighth season of her WNBA career with the Wings. She stands out as a quality star player as one of the best in the league, often helping Dallas compete for the playoffs in the team’s better campaigns.

However, she does have an occasional scoring dud in the Dallas offense. That was certainly the case against Las Vegas throughout her 18 minutes of action, only scoring a single point and dishing out two assists. She shot 0-of-4 from the field throughout the game, showing how quiet she was on offense, per reporter Michael Voepel.

“Tonight was just 3rd game in her WNBA career Arike Ogunbowale (who was dealing with illness) did not make a FG. But @DallasWings got 22/20/10 triple-double from Jessica Shepard & combined 42 points from Paige Bueckers & Azzi Fudd in 95-87 win over Las Vegas,” Voepel wrote.

Four players scored in double-digits for Dallas in the win. Azzi Fudd led the team in scoring with 22 points, three rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block. Jessica Shepard came next with a triple-double of 22 points and 20 rebounds and 10 assists, Paige Bueckers came next with 20 points and six assists, while Awak Kuier provided 12 points and four rebounds.

Dallas improved to a 5-3 record on the season, holding the fourth spot in the Western Conference standings. They are above the Aces and the Los Angeles Sparks while trailing the Portland Fire and the Golden State Valkyries.

The Wings will look forward to their next matchup, remaining at home. They host the Seattle Storm as the game commences on June 1 at 8 p.m. ET.
