Chargers’ Cameron Dicker injury scare gets mixed messages after Rams game
The Los Angeles Chargers suffered catastrophic injury misfortune on their offensive line last season, and they have already lost new center Tyler Biadasz for the 2026 campaign. Even with star quarterback Justin Herbert, promising running back Omarion Hampton and innovative play-caller Mike McDaniel in the fold, scoring points will prove challenging if the team’s wall of protection incurs additional damage. Hence, Cameron Dicker is incredibly important.
A good kicker can always make a difference, but given the Chargers’ continued run of bad luck on the O-Line, the position is especially valuable. Dicker raised some eyebrows when he visited the medical tent during the Bolts’ preseason finale versus the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night. He missed a 49-yard field goal near the end of the first half.
In a vacuum, the misfire is not alarming. However, when coupled with a possible injury, fans are bound to make assumptions. “Nothing’s wrong,” the 2025 Pro Bowl selection told ESPN’s Kris Rhim after the Chargers’ 20-18 loss. “All good.”
LA head coach Jim Harbaugh did not seem worried either, but his comments differed from those of Dicker. He said the 26-year-old is “working through something,” per Rhim. Hopefully, the optimistic tone rings true and there is indeed “nothing wrong” by the time the Chargers collide with the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Sept. 13.
Cameron Dicker converted 38-of-41 field goal attempts last season and drilled all but one of his 35 extra-point tries. Most notably, he was 5-of-6 from 50 or more yards out.
Los Angeles has just over two weeks to get him right.
