Broadcaster forced to axe ‘moot’ golf competition because grand prize no longer exists
Golf Channel has cancelled its reboot of Big Break following controversy surrounding the show’s title sponsor – Good Good.
The media company continues to face a furious backlash over an advert which depicted a woman being shoved to the ground.

Callaway, who collaborated on the video to promote a new driver, has since cut ties with Good Good, while its products have been pulled off shelves at Target and beyond.
But that is barely where the ramifications begin for a YouTube channel which found itself on top of the world before this untimely advert.
Good Good was set to be the title sponsor of a fall event on the PGA Tour in November – but decided to withdraw its sponsorship in light of the ongoing damage to its brand.
And that has had an unfortunate knock-on effect for 12 aspiring golfers.
The Big Break x Good Good TV series on Golf Channel was set to reward one lucky golfer with a spot in the field at the PGA Tour event in question.
The season was ready to air on August 25 before Golf Galaxy, a presenting sponsor, asked to have its branding removed.
After an initial postponement, Golf Channel has now decided to bin off the show entirely, pushing its long-awaited return back to 2027.
A statement read: “Following recent developments involving Good Good, and including the fact that the intended outcome of the series can no longer be fulfilled, Golf Channel will not be able to complete this season of Big Break as planned.
“While we are disappointed for the 12 competitors, our production team that worked tirelessly on the season, and the show’s passionate fans, we look forward to Big Break’s return to Golf Channel in 2027.”
Explaining the decision further, Golf Channel later added: “For further clarification, the grand prize in this season of Big Break was a sponsor’s exemption into the Good Good Championship.

“With Good Good stepping away as title sponsor, the exemption no longer exists, which unfortunately makes the grand prize and competition moot.”
Heartbreak for Big Break stars
Ryan French, who runs the popular golf account ‘Monday Q Info’ on social media, was involved in the show’s launch.
He hosted a promotional series called Big Break: Meet the Players, visiting the home of each contestant to get a closer look at their lives.
Reacting to Golf Channel’s announcement, he said: “I hope everyone takes a minute to think about the players on Big Break. Forget the Good Good guys for a second. The other 10.
“Think about Jesse Rouse, who doesn’t know his mom, his dad was a meth addict, and in his young years was probably around domestic violence, his grandparents, who were his heroes and savior, dead before he was 20. His sister attempted suicide two days after his grandma died.
“And somehow, somehow he graduated from college and for once, something went his way. He was named to be on Big Break. And now it’s gone.
“I feel horrible for him, for the other guys who had the chance of a lifetime. For the winner (truly, I don’t know who won), for all the people that worked their ass off behind the scenes to make this show possible.
“To be on that show was a dream come true.
“Thank you to Golf Channel for the amazing opportunity.
“I’m sorry to everyone involved. Here is to it coming back in 2027.”
