Wild’s Vladimir Tarasenko hits huge NHL milestone in Game 6 vs. Stars

The Minnesota Wild closed out the Dallas Stars in Game 6 of their tightly-contested first-round series on Thursday night with a dramatic 4-2 victory. Both teams are star-studded and finished with two of the highest point totals in the league this season, and that star power was on full display on Thursday.

After the Stars took a 2-1 second period lead with their first five-on-five goal in more than 250 minutes, the Wild didn’t take much time to answer back. Just 54 seconds later, Vladimir Tarasenko scored his first goal of the playoffs to even the score at two.

While it was his first goal of this relatively quiet postseason, Tarasenko has been a standout performer in the postseason throughout his career. With this goal, he now has 50 career postseason goals. The NHL made a social media post dedicated to the achievement after the clutch goal.

Tarasenko is a part of a star-studded Wild lineup that includes Olympic hero Matt Boldy, star defenseman Quinn Hughes and Swiss Army knife forward Kirill Kaprisov. Now that they are on to the second round and out of what was a very dangerous series, the Wild are a live threat to win the Stanley Cup.

Tarasenko spent most of his illustrious career with the St. Louis Blues before bouncing around from team to team in recent years. He won a Stanley Cup with the Blues in 2019 and has 75 points in the playoff for his career, with a chance to keep adding onto that total this season.

Things aren’t getting any easier for the Wild this postseason, as they will now take on the Presidents’ Torphy winners, the Colorado Avalanche. The Avalanche have a bunch of star players themselves and finished with the best record in the NHL this season, so they will be a very tough out especially with home-ice advantage.

However, if Quinn Hughes (two goals in Game 6) continues to play at this level and Tarasenko keeps pitching in, the Avs may have their hands full with a very hungry Wild team.
