Why WWE Women’s Champion Liv Morgan is in Queen of the Ring revealed
A few days ago, in May. 31, 2026, at WWE Clash in Italy post-show, the promotion revealed the official draws for both the men’s and women’s Queen and King of the Ring tournament brackets. While the men’s brackets consisted mostly of expected names, the women’s bracket included the surprising Liv Morgan.
Morgan is the current WWE Women’s Champion, having won the title from Stephanie Vaquer at WrestleMania 42. Her inclusion in the tournament left several fans confused. Shortly after, many started discussing Morgan’s role on the roster and if Vaquer’s absence meant she had nothing to do creatively. A recent report from Self Made Session has now possibly cleared some of the worries.
According to Self Made Pro, WWE’s current creative plans for Morgan involve the absence of Stephanie Vaquer. With Vaquer injured and not ready to return yet, WWE has planned on not keeping Morgan idle till then.
“I asked about the Liv Morgan thing and basically the mentality is, what they’ve planned out with her involves Stephanie Vaquer and she’s not ready yet, and so when she’s ready they will resume. And my immediate retort was, so why not just come up with something else in the meantime? But that’s just not how they operate for whatever reason. Basically, they’re going to just do the next step with Stephanie. Stephanie’s hurt, so Liv’s just going to exist in the meantime.”
Vaquer has been out of action after suffering a legitimate second-degree AC (acromioclavicular) joint sprain. The former champion has been out since Apr. 2026, and there has been no update on her return timeline.
