Vanderbilt football soon will have new pro representation through Diego Pavia. So why doesn’t he want an agent representing him for the 2026 NFL Draft?

Most prospects hire and agent to handle the financial paperwork and contracts. Pavia, however, raised eyebrows Tuesday in deciding not to hire an agent.

He later dropped a compelling reason why he’s going agent-less.

“I didn’t think it was fair that someone was going to represent me and take 5-10%… ain’t nobody taking my money,” Pavia said.

Some will laud Pavia in this decision. Others however view this as a big gamble the Heisman Trophy finalist is making.

One agent already doesn’t agree with Pavia rolling solo.

“This is dumb. Clearly he doesn’t know how things work because the max an agent can charge is 3%. He is someone who may go UDFA (undrafted free agent). A good agent could help him A LOT,” said Joshua Grady of Grady Sports Agency via X, formerly Twitter.

Others believe Pavia won’t get drafted due to his size. One however defended the choice Pavia is making.

“The right agent isn’t a cost they’re an investment that makes you more money. It’s a business, just like hiring a great employee or coach who drives results instead of draining resources. Diego Pavia saying he’s representing himself because he doesn’t want anyone taking 5-10% is understandable early on, but it often means missing out on better brand deals, weaker negotiations, and lost opportunities in NIL and beyond,” another fan posted.

Pavia attempted to boost his stock in the Senior Bowl. He turned in a 4.76 time in the 40-yard dash at his Pro Day. Now he awaits where he’ll land during the week of April 23.
