Why Storm center Dominique Malonga is out vs. Fever
The Seattle Storm will remain without sophomore center Dominique Malonga for Sunday’s road matchup against the Indiana Fever after she was ruled out due to a concussion.
Seattle enters the contest with a 1-2 record as it prepares to conclude a three-game road trip. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. PT, with the game airing on Peacock and NBCSN.
ESPN’s Kareem Copeland reported the update Saturday on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Back at Storm practice today. Dominique Malonga will be OUT tomorrow against the Fever due to a concussion.”
Malonga last appeared in Seattle’s 86-73 loss against the Toronto Tempo. Despite the defeat, the 20-year-old delivered one of the strongest performances of her young season, finishing with 21 points, seven rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 32 minutes.
She shot 9-for-19 from the field and connected on 2-of-3 attempts from beyond the arc while continuing to showcase her versatility on both ends of the floor.
Malonga’s early-season production leaves Storm shorthanded entering Fever matchup
Through the opening three games of her second WNBA season, Malonga has averaged 16 points, 7.3 rebounds, two blocks and one steal per game while shooting 47.5% from the field and 40% from three-point range in 26.7 minutes per contest.
Her absence leaves Seattle without one of its most productive frontcourt players heading into a matchup against an Indiana team also seeking to improve to .500 on the season.
The Storm will return home following Sunday’s game to begin a four-game homestand. Seattle’s next matchup is scheduled for Wednesday night against the Connecticut Sun at 7:00 p.m. PT.
