White Sox’s Colson Montgomery sends message to doubters after upsetting Dodgers

As the Chicago White Sox have been surging as of late, it continued with an impressive 6-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday afternoon, marking the first series victory over the NL giant since 2014. With the reality setting in for the White Sox as the rest of the MLB are taking notice, star Colson Montgomery sends a message to the continued doubters of the ball club.

All six of Chicago’s runs came in the sixth inning, as Montgomery, along with Sam Antonacci and Chase Meidroth, homered in the frame to drive a brunt of the offense. While many will consider the White Sox’s performance as surprising, especially in upsetting Los Angeles, Montgomery claims that their being this shocking team should be put to bed, according to Scott Merkin of MLB.com.

“You should stop thinking of us as a surprise just because we are consistently winning, consistently in every game … I think yeah, those days [of being a surprise] are kind of over,” Montgomery said.

The scoring in the sixth inning started with Antonacci’s 415-foot home run to right, with that being the moment that Chicago had the feeling that they would beat the Dodgers on Sunday.

“Everyone in the dugout kind of had a feeling once we tied it up and hit the homer that we were going to scrap out a win somehow,” Montgomery said.

At any rate, the White Sox’s series win at home marks their eighth straight season, as the team now has a 38-32 record, which puts them first in the AL Central, though Chicago (.543) is a mere fraction point higher than the Cleveland Guardians (.542). Up next for the White Sox is another tough series against the New York Yankees.
