Where to watch Manchester United vs Leeds: Premier League rivals to make history in Dublin

Manchester United and Leeds United will reignite their historic rivalry, albeit in a pre-season friendly this week.

Their hotly-contested battles were first fought in 1923 and one of the first fixtures that fans look for when the season schedule is revealed.

Leeds won the bragging rights in April when they beat United 2-1 at Old Trafford to help boost their Premier League survival.

However, United have the most wins from their 115 meetings with 50.

The next clash between the two won’t be officially recorded given it’s a friendly, although it could still be a tense affair.

And with the new Premier League season beginning next week, it will be the perfect opportunity for each side to generate winning form.

This pre-season friendly will be played on Wednesday, August 12.

Kick-off scheduled for 7:30pm UK time.

Fans in the UK can watch the match for free on ITV1, STV or Premier Sports 2.

MUTV, which costs £29.99 for a year’s subscription, are broadcasting it for United supporters.

Leeds are doing the same with an LUTV match pass thats costs fans £5, although it is not available for those in the Republic of Ireland.

Croke Park will stage the pre-season friendly on Wednesday evening.

The Dublin-based stadium is hosting a football match for the first time since 2009 when Ireland lost to France in a World Cup play-off.

It is the biggest stadium in Ireland and has a capacity of 82,300 and, at the time of writing, will almost be sold out.

Man United vs Leeds team news

United boss Michael Carrick may have to do without Mason Mount as he picked up an injury against Paris Saint-Germain.

The midfielder was able to walk off the pitch, but Carrick may look to rest him against Leeds.

“He got kicked,” he said. “We just wanted to be careful and look after him. We’ve been lucky with injuries so far so we wanted to be careful.”

Manuel Ugarte is out after undergoing surgery on an ACL injury, with Matthijs de Ligt, Benjamin Sesko and Kobbie Mainoo also sidelined.

Gabriel Gudmundsson is the only player missing for Leeds, although Lucas Perri and Ilia Gruev are nursing injuries.

James Trafford could be in line for his debut after completing his club-record £40million switch from Manchester City.

He signed on August 6, but was not involved in Leeds’ 2-0 win over RB Leipzig two days later.

Man United and Leeds pre-season so far

A 1-0 defeat to Wrexham marked a disappointing start to United’s summer, but they bounced back by thrashing Rosenborg 5-0.

This was followed by a 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid and then the 1-1 draw with European champions PSG.

Leeds also lost to Wrexham in a 3-2 result before beating Sunderland and Liverpool 1-0 and 4-2 respectively ahead of the Leipzig victory.

After Wednesday, they meet FC Augsburg in their last pre-season test, whilst United are up against AC Milan.

Both teams are then in action on the first Saturday of the new Premier League season.

United travel to Hull City, live on talkSPORT, as Leeds are away to Nottingham Forest.
