What Jets’ Aaron Glenn said about Brendan Sorsby possibility with QB upgrade a need

The New York Jets expect some big things under head coach Aaron Glenn in Year 2. Glenn struggled mightily in 2025, winning just three games in his first season. The Jets need help at quarterback this coming year, and an interesting opportunity just dropped in their lap.

Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby announced he is leaving the school to hopefully enter the NFL supplemental draft. Sorsby was involved in a gambling scandal that raised questions about his college eligibility. After Sorsby announced his decision, Glenn was asked about the possibility of the Jets picking him up.

“Glenn declines to comment on potential interest in QB Brendan Sorsby, saying he’s focused on the players on the team. Wouldn’t get into the gambling issue, saying he doesn’t know enough about it to comment. Obviously, this is very early in the process,” ESPN reported Tuesday on X, formerly Twitter.

New York didn’t use its first NFL Draft pick in 2026 on a quarterback. Instead, the Jets chose to focus on defense. New York’s quarterbacks currently include veteran Geno Smith, and not a lot of experience behind him.

In fact, rookie quarterback Cade Klubnik is currently injured.

“Rookie QB Cade Klubnik (back) won’t practice today, but he could be back by the end of minicamp, Glenn says,” ESPN added.

Glenn is pleased with what he has seen from Smith so far.

“His leadership, his command of the offense…..how he operates in the locker room, I am excited to have that player,” Glenn said, per Fox Sports. “You can see how he has grown over the years.”

New York finished the 2025 season with a 3-14 record. Jets fans expect the team to do much better this season. The Jets haven’t made the NFL Playoffs in close to 20 years.
