What Braves’ Michael Harris II said about clutch pinch-hit double after previous injury scare
Michael Harris II got some much-needed support from the home crowd upon his return from injury and his game-winning highlight in the Atlanta Braves’ win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night.
Harris is going through the fifth season of his professional career in the majors, all with the Braves. He has been making solid progress as he shines as a full-time starter and an effective hitter in the offense.
Harris has been dealing with an injury the day prior but fought through it to take part in this game. He came through with a major highlight for Atlanta in the bottom of the sixth inning, getting a two-run pinch hit double to give his squad the final lead of the night. He reflected on the play after the game with reporter Tricia Whitaker, thanking the home fans for helping him out to make the play.
“Hey Braves fans…you had a hand in this one. Michael Harris II was dealing with quad tightness last night but came in off the bench for one AB and that’s all he needed. He delivered a 2-run pinch-hit double to give the Braves the lead. The key?” Whitaker wrote.
“The crowd. They were so into it. It really helped me,” Harris said.
