In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Elite Group C match at the Gymkhana Ground in Hyderabad, Gujarat outplayed Baroda with an eight-wicket win in a dominant display. However, an unexpected heartwarming moment involving Hardik Pandya stole the spotlight in the domestic clash.

Pandya, representing Baroda, was batting on 10 when he attempted to finish the game with a big shot. Instead, he ended up finding the fielder in the deep, handing bowler Ravi Bishnoi his wicket. As Bishnoi celebrated with his arms in the air, Pandya, already in motion for a run, paused upon realising he was dismissed.

In a light-hearted and sporting gesture, the Mumbai Indians (MI) captain joined the celebration of his own wicket, giving Bishnoi a high five followed by a cheerful running hug before making his way off the field. The moment drew smiles from both sides and became one of the most memorable highlights of the match.

Speaking about the match, Gujarat endured a tough outing with the bat, getting bowled out for a modest 73 in just 14.1 overs. Aarya Desai top-scored with 22 off 15 balls, hitting three fours and a six in an otherwise collapsing innings. Baroda’s bowlers were exceptional, with Raj Limbani producing a standout spell of 3 for 5 in 2.1 overs. Atit Sheth also impressed, picking up 2 for 14. Gujarat’s innings was marked by frequent wickets, poor shot selection, and minimal partnerships, including a crucial run-out that further derailed their progress.

Chasing just 74, Baroda wrapped up the match comfortably in 6.4 overs, finishing at 74 for 2. Shashwat Rawat led the charge with a brisk 30 off 19 deliveries, hitting six boundaries. Vishnu Solanki contributed a fluent 27 off 15 balls, while Pandya chipped in with 10 runs before his entertaining dismissal.

After five matches, Baroda sit third on the Group C table with three wins, while Gujarat also have three victories but are placed fourth. Gujarat will next face Himachal Pradesh on December 6, while Baroda prepare to take on Haryana in their upcoming fixture.
