Watch Peter Schrager predict Rams’ Myles Garrett-level trade during 2026 NFL Draft

Peter Schrager got plenty of points for predicting the Los Angeles Rams’ plans of movement after they pulled off a major trade involving star defender Myles Garrett.

The Rams landed Garrett from the Cleveland Browns on Monday, sending young star Jared Verse to Cleveland in the process. This gives the defense an experience leader in the unit, coming off a historic campaign as the league’s sack leader.

Schrager didn’t specifically state the star player that Los Angeles might pursue. However, he figured they had plans during his appearance on ESPN’s panel during the NFL draft.

“It might not be during the season, but they might have other things in their pocket, whether it be in the draft or if there’s a disgruntled player elsewhere,” Schrager said during the draft.

“This season is going to be a big one for the Rams. Super Bowl in LA, prime time games, seven of them, two of them on our network, Week 2 and Week 5, and Stafford is now 38 years old. They weren’t just drafting Ty Simpson and saying, all right, we’re done. Windy fingers are not, Myles Garrett is what the end result is, and it was six weeks later. I’ll pat myself in the back for having an inclination that they were going to do something, but I think it’s the Rams in their front office who could be patting themselves in the back for actually landing what I think is the best defensive player of his generation,” Schrager said on Monday’s NFL Live segment.

What lies ahead for Myles Garrett, Rams after major trade

The Rams’ chances of Super Bowl contention certainly rose after adding Myles Garrett to the defense. Now it’s up to the entire team to prove themselves to obtain that status.

Garrett dominated throughout the 2025 campaign for the Browns. He racked up 60 tackles, 33 TFL, an NFL-record 23 sacks, and three forced fumbles.

The Rams seek to improve from their 12-5 record from the previous season, losing to the eventual champions Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game. This will be the first season since 2022 without Mike LaFleur as offensive coordinator, as he departed to become the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.
