[WATCH] IPL 2026: Tristan Stubbs furious after glove denial, DC players argue with umpires
Delhi Capitals (DC) batter Tristan Stubbs was visibly frustrated after his dismissal during their clash against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match No. 18 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on April 11 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
The incident occurred in the 19th over of DC’s chase when Jamie Overton delivered a full ball outside off stump. Stubbs attempted to loft it but failed to get proper elevation, resulting in a simple catch for Noor Ahmad at mid-off. The dismissal proved to be a crucial turning point in the match.
Following his wicket, Stubbs appeared unhappy and reacted angrily while walking back to the dressing room. He was seen dropping his bat near the steps and later flinging his helmet after entering the dressing room. The frustration seemed to stem from an earlier moment, where he was denied a glove change at the end of the previous over. Meanwhile, DC players Karun Nair, Nitish Rana, and coach Hemang Badani were engaged in a discussion with the umpire regarding the situation.

Overton, who bowled a clever cross-seam delivery, capitalised on the moment and finished with outstanding figures of 4/18 in his four overs, playing a match-winning role for CSK.
Speaking about the match, CSK delivered a commanding batting performance after being put in to bat, posting 212/2 in their 20 overs. Ayush Mhatre contributed with a solid 59 off 36 balls, while Sanju Samson starred with a sensational unbeaten 115 off 56 deliveries, anchoring the innings with authority.
In reply, DC managed 189 runs despite a fighting effort. Stubbs top-scored with 60 off 38 balls, showcasing his ability before his untimely dismissal. However, CSK’s bowlers held their nerve in the death overs, with Anshul Kamboj also contributing with three wickets.
With this 23-run victory, CSK returned to winning ways and moved to ninth place on the points table with two points, while DC remained fourth with four points.
