Warriors’ Steve Kerr reveals how Stephen Curry, Draymond Green complicate his future

The Golden State Warriors recently saw their 2025-26 season come to an end with a play-in loss to the Phoenix Suns, and the future is now uncertain for the team, especially regarding head coach Steve Kerr. Kerr has admitted that he isn’t sure whether he will be back in the Bay Area for next season, although the team has no plans of ending the Stephen Curry era anytime soon.

Recently, Kerr broke down how the presence of Curry and Draymond Green adds to the mystery regarding his future.

“… what complicates it is we still have Steph and Draymond,” said Kerr, per Charles Bethea of The New Yorker. “…I don’t want to abandon those guys. If Steph and Draymond were retiring this year, I think this would be an easy decision: we all go out together and the organization takes their new path. But it’s not that easy because I think Steph’s going to play another couple of years and I think we can still do some good things together.”

Curry, Green, and Kerr have had an unbelievably successful run together with the Warriors, winning four NBA championships and making it to six Finals appearances. While the Warriors’ dynasty has appeared to be on its last legs for a couple of years now, Curry is still an elite talent when healthy, as is Green, at least on the defensive end of the floor.

Kerr has had a hard time juggling his aging stars along with trying to bring along some of the younger Warriors players, which has resulted in some angst from the fanbase directed toward the head coach.

In any case, it appears that we should have an answer on the Kerr front sooner rather than later as the offseason continues.
