Warriors’ Draymond Green predicts Steve Kerr will retire after emotional huddle with Stephen Curry

The Golden State Warriors saw their 2025-26 season come to an end on Friday with a tough play-in game loss to the Phoenix Suns, and immediately, folks began speculating on whether this might be the last year for the trio of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Steve Kerr. Kerr added fuel to that fire by sharing an embrace with his two franchise cornerstones as the clock ticked down toward the end of the Suns game, and admitting his future was uncertain with the team after the game.

Now, Green himself has taken to his podcast to make a bold prediction as to Kerr’s future in the Bay Area.

“I hope he’s our coach next year, you want my opinion, I think not… it felt like that was it,” said Green, per The Draymond Green Show on X, formerly Twitter.

Kerr acknowledged after the game on Friday that the front office might be in search of a new voice to lead the locker room, although a large part of the team’ strategy will likely depend on how they choose to tweak the roster this offseason, with speculation ranging from the team looking to add another star via a trade, all the way to a potential full-on blowup, having already been floated.

Still, if that was indeed it for Kerr in Golden State, it would bring an end to one of the most successful coaching tenures of all time, as the head man helped the Warriors win four championships from 2015 to 2022.
