Warriors’ Brandin Podziemski compares Connor McDavid’s greatness to Stephen Curry

The Golden State Warriors had an off day on Wednesday, and with the free time, Brandin Podziemski did the most typical thing a person from Greenfield, Wisconsin would do: Watch a hockey game.

Podziemski attended the game between his favorite team, the Edmonton Oilers, and the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center in California. He was not disappointed, as the Oilers won, 5-2, to stay atop the Pacific Division in the NHL.

He revealed in an interview with Sportsnet that he was introduced to hockey when he was 10 or 11 years old, adding that he was enticed to cheer for the Oilers because he liked the team’s colors.

“I didn’t really know much about it. I just followed suit because we don’t have a team in Milwaukee. I just liked it ever since, and it’s been cool to see,” said Podziemski, who was wearing a Connor McDavid jersey.

The 23-year-old guard also expressed his admiration for McDavid, who scored his third hat-trick of the season against the Sharks. Podziemski said the Edmonton star’s greatness reminds him a lot of teammate Stephen Curry.

“Just the things he’s (McDavid) able to do on the ice, you can try to emulate and replicate him as much as you want, but there’s just nobody like him. The same thing with Steph. I get to see it every day. A lot of comparisons there,” explained Podziemski.

Podziemski and Curry helped the Warriors defeat the Sacramento Kings, 110-105, at Chase Center on Tuesday to snap their four-game losing streak.

It was Curry’s second game back from his knee injury, which kept him sidelined for multiple weeks. He had 17 points, including four three-pointers, and five rebounds off the bench.

Podziemski, meanwhile, tallied 20 points, including four three-pointers, and three assists.
