VJ Edgecombe picks Jalen Brunson’s pocket for sick slam dunk

The Philadelphia 76ers are in a real bind going into Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the New York Knicks. They are down 2-0 as they make their way back to Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia on Friday.

Knowing the task at hand, VJ Edgecombe ensured that the 76ers would stay in the fight. He cemented his point in the 3rd quarter with 4:07 left. Edgecombe stole the inbounds pass from Jalen Brunson and took it all the way down the other end for the two-handed slam. The 76ers trailed 76-72.

Edgecombe has emerged as the defiant leader hoping to dig Philadelphia out of the hole it is in. Even with their backs up against the wall, Edgecombe has stood tall. That included not taking any mess from Jeremy Sochan when they got into a heated exchange in Game 2.

So far, Edgecombe is averaging 14.5 points per game in this series. He came away with 17 points and five rebounds in Game 2, an upgrade from a 12-point game in Game 1. Furthermore, he has been the go-to guy when it comes to going up against Brunson, one of the Knicks’ best playmakers.

Not only that, Edgecombe is the 76ers’ guy to perform in the clutch, as he had 65% of the time during the regular season.

With a vulnerable Joel Embiid, Edgecombe has fit in nicely to the rotation alongside Tyrese Maxey. It was Edgecombe who played a huge role in helping the 76ers defeat the Boston Celtics in the first round. He scored 23 points in the decisive Game 7.

All in all, he is not going down without a fight.
