The San Antonio Spurs are still riding the emotional high of defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals. Victor Wembanyama was emotional after the win, and said he couldn’t wait to see Gregg Popovich.

“I can’t answer that question, I don’t know what it means for him,” Wembanyama said of what the win meant to Popovich. “That’s a guy who’s got more experience as a coach than almost anybody. And has been through so many things in his career. And so many things right now as El Jefe. He goes through some things we can’t even imagine. So, I need to call him. I need to see. I need to talk to him because there’s no way I can understand right now how he feels.”

On Tuesday, during the Spurs media day availability inside Frost Bank Center, Wembanyama says he was able to chat with

“Yes of course I saw Pop right away when we landed, and the emotion was really something I haven’t felt in a while,” Wembanyama explained. “I don’t even know since when. Coming back down from this is a challenge and it’s not done yet. We still need to really come back down to earth and realized that we haven’t done the hardest yet. The job isn’t done at all. We still got about 30 plus hours to reset.”

In his first career postseason, Victor Wembanyama is averaging 23.2 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 0.9 steals, and 3.5 blocks per game for the Spurs in 32.5 minutes of play.
