Valencia vs Barcelona predictions
There is a long way to go this season, but the early signs suggest Barcelona have lost none of their hunger.
The debate over the summer was whether the Blaugrana would have the same desire to win the La Liga title after triumphing two seasons in a row.
Some felt Hansi Flick’s team would turn their focus to the Champions League, and that may still prove to be the case. But Barcelona do not intend to give up their domestic crown without a fight.
We are only three games in, but the La Liga table already has a familiar look: Barcelona first, Real Madrid second and Atletico Madrid third.
Only Barca and Madrid have nine points to their name, with the former’s superior goal difference giving them the edge in the early standings.
It has been a blistering start from the champions, who have beaten Elche (5-0), Athletic Bilbao (2-0) and Rayo Vallecano (5-2) with a minimum of fuss.
The worrying thing for the rest of the division is that Barcelona might get even better from here.
Rodri, the standout performer at World Cup 2026, has yet to start a game for his new club following a summer switch from Manchester City. Fellow midfielder Frenkie de Jong is currently injured, as is academy product Gavi.
Valencia vs Barcelona tips
Barcelona head to the Estadio de Mestalla to face Valencia this La Liga weekend.
More joy for Barcelona
Barcelona can outscore anyone in Europe on their day, so conceding one or two goals is not necessarily fatal to their chances of victory.
Needless to say, Hansi Flick would prefer to see his team keep a clean sheet every game. But he is a manager who would rather win 4-2 than 1-0.
The fact that Rayo Vallecano scored twice against Barcelona on Monday night gives Valencia hope.
But it is difficult to see the home team getting anything from this game given how well Barcelona have been playing already.

Goals await at Mestalla
Two out of Barcelona’s three games in 2026/27 have contained at least four goals, and we reckon Sunday’s showdown with Valencia will follow suit.
Throughout Hansi Flick’s time at the Camp Nou, Barca have adopted an ultra-attacking approach.
That has at times cost them in the Champions League, most notably against Inter in the semi-finals of 2024/25, but it has served them well overall.
Barcelona are not about to change, at least not in La Liga, so we expect goals when they face Valencia on matchday four.

Raphinha in fine form
Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres, Barcelona’s two most natural central strikers last season, both departed the club in the summer transfer market.
There has been much debate over who will lead the line this term. Gabriel Jesus is now another contender following his recent move from Arsenal.
For now, though, the role is Raphinha’s to lose. The Brazil international has had a fantastic start to the season through the middle, scoring five goals in his first three appearances.
Raphinha’s confidence is sky-high and he will cause Valencia plenty of problems in this one.
