The Green Bay Packers‘ front seven drew plenty of hype before the start of the season. Adding Micah Parsons to the mix was a scary sight for the rest of the league, and so far, he’s done a great job of showing why.

The secondary, however, was a bit of a concern. Nate Hobbs has been on the wrong end of some big plays this season, and he was starting to become a major issue for Jeff Hafley’s unit.

Fortunately for this team, they may have found a true CB1. As pointed out by Zach Kruse on X, Carrington Valentine has been an absolute menace recently:

“87 coverage snaps, 10 targets, 2 receptions allowed, 15 yards allowed,” he wrote.

Those are some elite numbers. He may not get the praise and recognition other players in his position get, but he’s shown that he can hold his ground against some of the best players in the game.

He’s gone against the likes of A.J. Brown, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Justin Jefferson in the past three weeks, and he’s done a solid job against all of them. Now, he will be in for another tough matchup against Jameson Williams and/or Amon-Ra St. Brown on Thursday’s can’t-lose divisional matchup with the Detroit Lions.

He may not be as popular, but given the way he’s played, he’s definitely going to have a big chunk in the scouting report. Whether Jared Goff will be willing to challenge him remains to be seen, but it clearly hasn’t been much of a winning formula for other quarterbacks lately.
