Udonis Haslem thinks 1 Heat player is being overlooked amid Giannis arrival
A lot of fans have their eyes on Giannis Antetokounmpo’s championship ceiling with the Miami Heat following the blockbuster trade. However, franchise legend Udonis Haslem notes one player who is under the radar: Bobby Portis.
Portis joined Antetokounmpo in the major trade, going to Miami this summer. The Heat landed both players in exchange for Nate Ament, Tyler Herro, Kasparas Jakucionis, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel’el Ware, a 2030 1st round draft pick, a 2031 1st round draft pick, a 2033 1st round draft pick and a 2033 2nd round draft pick.
Portis continues to be productive after 11 years in the NBA, having assisted Antetokounmpo in multiple playoff runs. Haslem sees this to be a key factor in Miami’s chances of success going into next season.
“There was a great move this summer… but that’s just the beginning. People really underestimate the impact of having a guy like Bobby Portis. And then opportunity for these young guys,” Haslem said on the Prime broadcast.

What’s next for Bobby Portis, Heat this offseason
Bobby Portis certainly has a lot of gas in the tank, helping out Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Heat throughout the upcoming 2026-27 season.
Portis completed the 11th year of his career with the Bucks as he gears up for Year 12 with the Heat. Throughout 67 games, he averaged 13.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He had shooting splits of 48.8% from the field, including 45.6% from beyond the arc, and 70.6% from the free-throw line.
Miami finished with a 43-39 record this past season, finishing at 10th place in the Eastern Conference standings. They missed the playoffs for the first time since 2017, losing to the Charlotte Hornets in the play-in tournament.
Miami still has roster spots to fill following the Antetokounmpo trade. They added Tim Hardaway Jr., Ryan Conwell and Tre Donaldson to the squad, but could pull off a major addition in the coming weeks to complete their squad.
