Tucker Kraft’s expectation for Week 1 will catch fans’ attention
The Green Bay Packers lost some key pieces on their team this offseason, but the hope is that the players on the roster can compensate. On offense, one of the players people are hoping to see sooner rather than later is Tucker Kraft, who tore his ACL in Week 9 of last season. Kraft has been recovering well from the injury, and fans should be excited for his latest update, according to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.
“Tucker Kraft just said he anticipates playing Week 1 without a pitch count,” Schneidman wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
That’s good news for the Packers if Kraft can come back with no restrictions. Before his injury, he was playing well, and he noted he felt like the best tight end in the league at that time. Kraft caught 32 passes for 489 yards and six touchdowns and still finished tied with the most touchdowns on the team with Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson.
The Packers’ offense is going to need that type of confidence from Kraft, but they’ll also need his high-level play. At the same time, they don’t want to rush him back on the field, regardless of what his expectations are for Week 1.
After Watson received his extension, he advocated for Kraft to be the next pass catcher for the Packers to get an extension.
“Honestly I don’t,” Watson said when asked if he had knowledge of a new Kraft contract. “I’m trying to put it out in the air. Trying to speak it into existence and hopefully it’s sooner rather than later.”
Jordan Love should be in good hands with the pass catchers that he has this season, and they should be one of the better teams in the league because of it. Kraft will only make things better if he’s able to hit the ground running to start the season.
