Trevoh Chalobah in advanced talks to depart Chelsea amid £26million offer

Como are in advanced talks to sign Trevoh Chalobah after making a £26million offer for the Chelsea defender, talkSPORT understands.

Chalobah has been a major target of ex-Blues star Cesc Fabregas this summer, with the Italian side now submitting a third bid for him.

Move approaching?

According to talkSPORT’s Ben Jacobs, Chelsea want around £30m plus £5m in add-ons for their academy graduate.

In June, Como submitted a bid worth more than £22million for Chalobah, which was knocked back.

And while their latest improved offer still falls short of this, negotiations between the two sides are now set to accelerate over the weekend.

talkSPORT previously reported that the Premier League giants were prepared to sell Chalobah, and a departure now appears more likely as they close in on the signing of Maxence Lacroix.

The Crystal Palace defender is expected to arrive at Stamford Bridge in a deal worth north of £55m.

Lacroix’s arrival would push Chalobah further down the pecking order in west London, who does not appear part of new boss Xabi Alonso‘s plans.

The 27-year-old has two years left on a long-term contract signed in 2022, which includes an option to extend it for another 12 months.

But the Blues prepared to cash in on him now, despite being one of the club’s most consistent performers in a tough 2025/26 campaign.

Chalobah made 47 appearances in all competitions, and was ultimately rewarded with a late World Cup call-up for England.

He was a late replacement for Tino Livramento after the Newcastle man suffered a calf injury, and made his tournament debut in the Three Lions’ crazy 6-4 third-place play-off win over France.

Blues reunion?

Como are looking to strengthen by pulling off the signing of Chalobah’s ahead of their first-ever Champions League campaign.

Under Fabregas, the Serie A outfit secured a fourth-place league finish last term to qualify for Europe for the first time.

And should they succeed in their pursuit of Chalobah, it would see him reunited with a familiar face in Fabregas.

The pair previously shared a dressing room at Chelsea, during the Spaniard’s five-year stay in west London.

A Cobham academy graduate, Chalobah has been with the Blues since the age of eight.

He signed his first professional contract in March 2018 – while Fabregas was a key player for Chelsea.

Chalobah was named on the bench in the 2018 FA Cup final, when Chelsea beat Manchester United 1-0 at Wembley.

Fabregas played the full 90 minutes that day, but the two never shared the pitch together at Stamford Bridge.

The Spaniard has already managed to talk one of his old teammates into joining Como, with Alvaro Morata completing a permanent move after spending last season on loan in northern Italy.

And Chalobah has certainly managed to catch Fabregas’ eye in the years since his departure from Chelsea in 2019.

After a series of loans in his early career, the centre-back has gone on to establish himself in the Blues backline in more recent seasons.

Last season was his best in west London, with his 47 appearances the most he has ever made in a single campaign for the club by some distance, while he also chipped in with two goals.
