Top 5 best Jaylen Brown Celtics moments

For Celtics fans, it’s still hard to fathom that Jaylen Brown will be suiting up for the Philadelphia 76ers in 2026-27. After coaching the All-NBA forward for the past three seasons, Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla says he’s grieving over Brown’s exit. The move came as a shock to Mazzulla, who had helped Jaylen go from a disappointing Game 7 performance in 2023 to a 2024 Finals MVP.

After playing 10 seasons with the Celtics, Brown has had plenty of unforgettable performances throughout his career. However, here are five of Jaylen’s most memorable moments with the Celtics.

5. Career-high 50 points vs. Clippers

Jaylen Brown matched his career-high 50 points in a 146-115 blowout win against the Clippers last season. In the best scoring performance of his career, Brown finished 18-for-26, including 6-of-10, and 8-for-10 from the free-throw line. Reminding fans of his explosive offense, Jaylen outscored Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard (22) and James Harden (18) by 10 points.

He also finished with five assists and three rebounds. 34 games into the regular season at that point, the Celtics, who began the season with three losses in a row for the first time in franchise history, went 22-9 after those three consecutive losses. The Celtics, on pace to cement themselves in the upper echelon of the Eastern Conference standings, finished 56-26 for the second-best record.

And while Brown will always get credit for leading the Celtics to one of the best regular-season records of the 2025-26 campaign, Boston’s monumental collapse after a 3-1 lead in its first-round series against the 76ers is what people will remember most about Jaylen’s last season with the Celtics.

4. Jaylen Brown ties Larry Bird’s franchise-record streak

Entering the 2025-26 season with the naysayers predicting a Jayson Tatum-less Celtics team, who traded away pieces of their championship core, such as Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis, while also letting Al Horford and Luke Kornet walk, would pose much of a threat in the Eastern Conference, Jaylen Brown had a chip on his shoulder. It only grew after Boston’s 0-3 start.

Then, Jaylen Brown went on a tear, scoring 30+ points in nine consecutive games. Brown tied Larry Bird’s Celtics franchise record. Brown topped the streak by scoring 27 of his 37 points in the first half of a 114-108 win against the Blazers. Jaylen turned in one of his better games of the season, scoring 14-of-23 attempts, including a pair of threes, 7-for-10 free-throw attempts, and four assists.

Brown entered the game averaging over 29 points per game, which many thought would eventually dip significantly by the end of the regular season, which of course was not the case as the All-Star forward finished with a career-best 28.7 points per game on 47.7% shooting. He also averaged a career-best in rebounds (6.9) and assists (5.1).

3. Jaylen Brown’s Celtics game-winner in Game 1 of the 2024 ECF

In a game where Jaylen Brown finished with 28 points, seven rebounds, and three steals, his clutch 3-pointer in the final seconds of regulation will be remembered forever among Celtics fans. With Pacers All-Star Pascal Siakam taking space away deep in the corner defending Brown as best as any head coach could ask, Jaylen rose up for a trey to send Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals into overtime.

Nearly falling out of bounds, Brown found the bottom of the net — sending Celtics fans into a frenzy at TD Garden.

Brown revealed how locked in he was into the play, knowing that if Jrue Holiday got the ball in his hands, he was going to drain the shot, he said, per NBC Sports Boston.

“Before the inbound, I was just talking to myself, ‘If I get this shot, it’s going in.’ I was telling myself the whole time,” Brown said after the win.

The hard-fought win set a distinct tone for the rest of the best-of-7 series for the Celtics. Although the Celtics would go on to sweep the Pacers, 4-0, three of which Boston defeated Indiana by a five- or three-point margin.

2. Jaylen Brown wins inaugural 2024 ECF MVP award

While some argue Jayson Tatum was just as deserving to win the first Eastern Conference Finals MVP award, Jaylen Brown’s defense and clutch play throughout the four-game series gave him the edge. Averaging 29.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game against the Pacers.

Brown’s key defensive stops kept the Pacers at bay during critical late-game moments in the Eastern Conference Finals. Plus, he was efficient, connecting on 51.7% of his attempts, including 37% from deep. Jaylen finished with only nine turnovers across four games. After his clutch 3-pointer forced overtime in Game 1, he scored 40 points in 37 minutes in Game 2.

Then, in Game 3, where the Celtics erased an 18-point deficit in the third quarter, Brown played a vital part on both ends of the floor. The Celtics’ 13-2 run led to a 114-111 win. Jaylen finished with 24 points. But it was his overall impact that stood out most when he was voted MVP after Boston swept the Pacers.

Jaylen Brown’s career-defining moment — winning the 2024 Finals MVP award — cemented his name as a Celtics legend. For fans still reeling from his shocking trade to the 76ers, this is one of their leading arguments for why the franchise made a colossal mistake. In a best-of-7 series where the Celtics defeated Luka Doncic and the Mavericks, Brown led his team on both ends of the floor.

Whether it was limiting Doncic on one end while making his run all over the court to keep up with him on the other, Brown exposed the Mavericks’ weaknesses throughout the five-game series. Dallas did everything it could to keep the ball out of Jayson Tatum’s hands.

Then, Brown capitalized offensively en route to averaging 20.8 points on 44% shooting. He also averaged 5.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.
