Tommy Edman lands rehab assignment ahead of Dodgers return

The Los Angeles Dodgers welcomed back Kiki Hernandez before facing the Colorado Rockies. Soon Max Muncy will return as well. But when will Tommy Edman make his reappearance amid his MLB Injury?

Manager Dave Roberts helped provide an update there Monday before taking on their National League West rival. Edman indeed is on his way back, but must go to Oklahoma City first for his rehab assignment as Roberts told reporters.

That means he’ll suit up for the Triple-A affiliate Comets to launch his march back into the Dodgers’ rotation. Roberts previously teased Edman’s return back on Wednesday.

Edman previously injured an ankle back in March that led him to the injured list. The 31-year-old versatile utility man likely will man second base during his rehab stint.

Edman could head toward a June return to the Dodgers if all goes accordingly. He’s yet to make a single appearance during the 2026 season with the back-to-back World Series winners.

Edman played in 97 games last season during the 2025 run. He batted at .225 and smacked 78 hits. Edman also scored 49 runs while taking 61 strikeouts at the bat. He also drove 49 runners home with his RBIs.

Edman hasn’t surpassed the .300 batting average mark since 2019 while with the St. Louis Cardinals. He even swung at .237 during the Dodgers’ 2024 World Series title run. Though he played in just 37 games amid another injury that season while also settling for 33 hits and 20 runs scored. He’s won the WS in his first two seasons with LA.

He’ll soon return to a Dodgers team currently in first place of the NL West.
