Tommy Castellanos gets multiple minicamp invites, but not as a QB
Once the NFL Draft ends, any player who wasn’t drafted will still try to find their spot in the league. The same goes for former Florida State quarterback Tommy Castellanos.
However, his attempt to make the NFL won’t be coming at quarterback. Both the Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins have invited Castellanos to their rookie minicamp. He’ll be competing at wide receiver for both teas, via NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
Castellanos was a quarterback through all four of his collegiate seasons, one at UCF, two at Boston College before finishing at Florida State. Overall, he threw for 6,449 yards, 48 touchdowns and 28 interceptions. Furthermore, he ran for 1,984 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Clearly, the Dolphins and Titans were impressed with Castellanos’ athleticism. As a sophomore, he turned a career-high rushing attempts into more career-bests of 1,113 yards and 13 touchdowns. Each franchise will at least see what Castellanos can do catching passes rather than throwing them.
Even after the draft, Miami and Tennessee are in need of receiver help. The Titans added their now top dog in Carnell Tate with the fourth overall pick. However, no receiver in Tennessee had more than 515 receiving yards in 2025. The Titans need more than just Tate.
As for the Dolphins, they released Tyreek Hill and traded away Jaylen Waddle. They added players such as Chris Bell and Caleb Douglas in the draft. But Miami will be turn over every rock as they try to find wide receiver talent.
Castellanos will have an uphill battle towards making a roster spot. He only received offers to rookie minicamps, not full on undrafted free agent deals. Furthermore, he is set to undergo a position change.
But now the goal is clear. If Castellanos wants to make the NFL, he knows what he must do.
