Titans’ Carnell Tate dazzles at OTAs with sick 1-handed catch
With their fourth-overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans made Carnell Tate the first wide receiver selected in the class. At OTAs, Tate showed a glimpse of exactly why he went at No. 4.
On a deep pass from quarterback Cam Ward, the receiver came away with a one-handed catch. The defender was all in Tate’s face, but he still made the grab look easy, via the team’s X, formerly Twitter account.

It’s important to take OTAs with a grain of salt. Despite the cornerback’s efforts, the defense isn’t playing at full capacity. There aren’t pads being worn or full out tackles. Still, Tate was brought to Tennessee due to his playmaking ability. His catch is just a taste of what the Titans are expecting during his rookie season and beyond.
Tate appeared in 39 games over his three years at Ohio State, winning a national championship with the Buckeyes in 2024. Overall, he caught 121 passes for 1,872 yards and 14 touchdowns. He finished his time at Ohio State by catching 51 passes for 875 yards and nine touchdowns, being named a Second-team All-American.
Tate’s selection was made with quarterback Cam Ward in mind. The Titans are building their offense around the former No. 1 pick and knew they needed to surround him with talent. They believe their new rookie wide receiver will be key in unlocking their passing attack.
The newest Titan will still need to prove himself throughout the offseason. But Tate’s potential is sky high as he prepares to officially enter his Tennessee tenure.
