Timberwolves’ Naz Reid gives eye-opening take on Jaden McDaniels’ trash talk
The Minnesota Timberwolves are one of those teams that no contender wants to face in the NBA Playoffs. They have a group that loves to get in the mix with their opponents through trash talking and swagger, and after defeating the Denver Nuggets on the road in Game 2 to even their playoff series, you’d better believe they had some things to say post-game, notably from Jaden McDaniels, which teammate Naz Reid had no problem with, according to Dane Moore via X, formerly Twitter.
“I mean, he’s guarding the best player every night. So I think for him it’s kind of a mentality thing, just to keep himself engaged, keep himself going… It’s probably just for his own good,” Reid said. “Everybody has their own techniques and intangibles that keep themselves inside the game. And I think that’s one of them for him.”
McDaniels decided to address the media and say the Nuggets aren’t good defenders after the win. McDaniels himself wasn’t one of the team’s leading scorers, but when he talks about defense as one of the league’s premier ball-stoppers, it’s going to create a buzz. The verdict is still out on whether it will get into the heads of the Nuggets’ players or only serve to motivate some of their sleepy stars from Game 2.
The problem with trash-talking players like Nikola Jokic is that he can take over a game and win it single-handedly if he’s motivated to do it. If Jaden McDaniels’ comments turn into a red-hot Jokic, the Timberwolves may be in trouble.
