Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards expects absolute crowd chaos in Game 3

Despite their brutal defeat in Game 2 at Frost Bank Center on Wednesday, the Minnesota Timberwolves may feel pleased that they stole one on the road against the San Antonio Spurs after taking Game 1 in their second-round series in the playoffs.

Now, the best-of-seven affair shifts to Target Center, where the Timberwolves could feed off the energy of the crowd and the familiarity of everything.

Game 3 is on Friday, with Minnesota looking to take a 2-1 lead. Anthony Edwards expects their fans to cheer for them—and maybe do a little bit more.

“They’re gonna be turnt up. They’re gonna be falling all over and s***, drunk as hell. They’re gonna be loud as hell in there,” said Edwards.

If they can shatter the eardrums of the Spurs, then all the better.

The 24-year-old Edwards only scored 12 points on 5-of-13 shooting in Game 2 in 24 minutes off the bench. He also had four turnovers.

The Spurs won, 133-95, dealing the Timberwolves their worst loss in postseason history. Minnesota coach Chris Finch had to give his players a reality check after the game.

Edwards recently returned from a knee injury, but Finch might want to re-insert him in the starting lineup. What better way to do it than in front of their fans?

The four-time All-Star is one of the best showmen in the NBA. He gets pumped by the crowd, which has often boded well for the Timberwolves, who were 26-15 at home in the regular season.
