Tiger Woods makes first social media post following alleged rehab stint

Tiger Woods is back on social media.

The golf legend made his first post following his March DUI rollover crash with a message to his late father.

“My father was a Special Forces operator with two tours in Vietnam and 20 years of service,” Woods wrote via his Instagram Story and X on Monday, May 25. “To all those like my father, we all say thank you for your sacrifices. Without them we wouldn’t have the greatest country on Earth.”

Monday commemorated Memorial Day, the holiday that honors fallen soldiers who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. Woods’ father, Earl Woods, served two tours in Vietnam, where the U.S. was involved from March 1965 to March 1973. The war itself had a longer duration of almost 20 years from November 1, 1955, to April 30, 1975. Woods’ father died in 2006 from a heart attack at the age of 74.

The post follows Woods’ recent alleged rehabilitation treatment in Switzerland. He previously shared that he would be seeking treatment following the crash.

“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,” he wrote in a statement via X. “I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.”

“I’ve committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally,” he continued. “I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”

According to TMZ Sports, Woods’ private plane left Florida to Zurich, Switzerland where he began treatment on April 3, and came back to Florida on May 13. Woods at this time has not confirmed the outlet’s report.

In addition to being charged with a DUI, he was also charged with property damage, refusal to submit to a lawful test, and was later cited for careless driving. He pleaded not guilty to all of the charges on March 31.

Woods will reportedly be back in court on June 2.
