This year’s competition will be a landmark in the Hundred’s history as the first edition of the tournament following the ECB’s sale of clubs to external investors, with Indian and American companies having bought majority stakes in the sides.

Three of the teams have changed their names since last year, with the Manchester Originals, Oval Invincibles and Northern Superchargers becoming the Manchester Super Giants, MI London and Sunrisers Leeds following investment from IPL owners.

MI London have won the last three editions of the men’s Hundred and return to the stage as favourites to make it a fourth consecutive win in just the sixth edition of the competition.

Captained by Sam Curran, and with a squad boasting the likes of Rashid Khan, Will Jacks, Trent Boult and Nicholas Pooran, the Oval-based side are very much the team to beat as they look keep the trophy in south London for a fourth year running.

Trent Rockets are priced as the team with the best chance of taking them down, with a squad containing Ben Duckett, Tim David and Mitchell Santner among others as they look for their second title, and first since 2022.

London Spirit have become the richest team in the Hundred since last year’s tournament, valued at nearly £300m and will looking to lift the trophy aloft at their home ground of Lord’s this summer, aided this year by the prowess of Liam Livingstone, Dewald Brevis, Adam Zampa and Jonny Bairstow.

England white ball captain Harry Brook became the most expensive signing at £460,000 when Sunrisers Leeds signed him, while Josh Tongue and Gus Atkinson will both be representing Manchester Super Giants this summer.

Other notable England players include Jofra Archer, Jamie Smith and Adil Rashid running out for Southern Brave, Phil Salt, Jordan Cox and Joe Root will be representing Welsh Fire, while Jacob Bethell will be captaining the Birmingham Phoenix.

In contrast to the men’s competitions, the last four women’s editions of the Hundred have been won by four different teams, with Sunrisers Leeds returning to action as defending champions this time around after bettering Southern Brave in last year’s final.

Those two teams are once again priced as the top two teams in the odds list, with Lauren Bell, Jemimah Rodrigues and Laura Wolvaardt turning out for the Southampton-based side, and the likes of Kate Cross, Phoebe Litchfield and Annabel Sutherland representing the defending champions this summer.

MI London will be strong once again with the likes of Amelia Kerr, Hayley Matthews and Danni Wyatt-Hodge looking to win a record increasing third title for the south London side.

London Spirit, Manchester Super Giants and Trent Rockets are all tied at 7/1 for victory in this summer’s competitions, with Marizanne Kapp, Smriti Mandhana and England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt representing those teams respectively.

Birmingham Phoenix and Welsh Fire are the less fancied of the teams with the bookies, but with the former boasting firepower like Alice Capsey and Ellyse Perry and the latter with Sophie Devine and Georgia Voll, they will both fancy their chances at upsetting the odds.
