Ole Miss and Mississippi State have been beefing since before any of us were born

Most college football rivalries need some extra juice to enter “beef” territory. For Ole Miss and Mississippi State, there’s a chance they’ve only ever known beef, but some extra juice let the rest of the nation take a look and say, “oh yeah, that’s some Grade A stuff down there.”

What it took for college football fans everywhere to stick our noses in turned into some heavy drama. An NCAA investigation that uncovered more than anyone expected, Laremy Tunsil’s social media accounts getting hacked to send out the infamous gas mask bong tweet, DK Metcalf and Elijah Moore celebrating by pretending to be peeing dogs, and plenty other statements that don’t feel like real life to write down – it all blossomed into a three year stretch of beautiful, absurd, chaotic football.

At the end of the day Mississippi always knew what it had and knew that it was special. It just happened to be an absurd, beautiful spectacle that drew the rest of us in.
