The Alabama football star who 1 NFL exec believes would’ve been a top-5 pick if he really wanted it

Alabama football offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor is one of the most intriguing prospects going into the 2026 NFL Draft.

Proctor’s frame alone demands attention. Standing 6-foot-7 and weighing 352 pounds, Proctor is someone who’s hard to miss, and he combines those physical traits with surprising athleticism and quickness for someone his size. He’s put on quite a show at the NFL Combine, and was noted to be the first offensive lineman who’s 350 pounds or heavier to clear 32 inches in the vertical jump.

At the same time, his weight is a concern among NFL scouts, seemingly hurting his chances of being a high first-round pick. That ties into doubts on whether Proctor has the fire to stay competitive and hungry in the pros.

But at least one NFL executive believes that Proctor could be taken off the board before the sixth pick if he sets his eyes on it.

Here’s what an anonymous NFL executive said about Proctor (via Jeremy Fowler of ESPN): “He should be a top-five pick,” the exec said. “He can be so good if he wants to be.”

The good news for Proctor (or whichever team takes him) is that weight issues can always be addressed.

His talent and immense potential alone may be enough for any team to look past his weight, draft him, and take care of the rest later on. There just seems to be a ton of potential in Proctor, who should hear his name before the first day of the 2026 NFL Draft concludes.

Proctor played for three seasons with the Alabama football team, appearing in 40 games and earning an 85.4 overall grade from Pro Football Focus.
