Taylor Hall reveals when Hurricanes took over East Final vs. Canadiens

The Carolina Hurricanes are Eastern Conference champions after a dominant showing in the East Final against the Montreal Canadiens. Taylor Hall led the charge in Game 5 on Friday night with three points. His performance sent the Habs home, but in his mind, Carolina took over the series long before that.

The Canadiens won Game 1 of this series against the Hurricanes in a dominant showing of their own. Montreal was one shot away from winning Games 2 and 3, as well. However, Games 4 and 5 left no doubt in anyone’s mind about who was winning this series. Hall revealed what led his team to finally take over in the East Final.

“Our forecheck started taking over and we were getting used to their breakouts,” the Hurricanes star said, via ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski.

Hall provided important depth in his first full season with the Hurricanes. However, he has turned up his play in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The former No. 1 overall pick has scored five goals and 16 points in 13 games. His 16 points lead Carolina skaters, with his linemates Jackson Blake and Logan Stankoven also scoring more than 10 points this postseason.

This will be the first time Hall has skated in the Stanley Cup Final. In fact, this is only the third time in his career he has made it out of round one. Hall’s run with Carolina in 2025 was the first time he had made it past the second round, as well.

The former Hart Trophy winner is just four wins away from that elusive Stanley Cup. He won’t need to wait too long before taking the ice in the Stanley Cup Final, either. Game 1 between the Hurricanes and Vegas Golden Knights will take place on Tuesday night in Raleigh, North Carolina.
