talkSPORT tips – Best football bets and expert advice for Wednesday 27 May

Crystal Palace are within touching distance of a second major trophy in two seasons when they head to Leipzig’s Red Bull Arena for the Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday night.

The Eagles swooped on the FA Cup last season, and while manager Oliver Glasner is set to leave south London in the summer, Palace have a shot at more glory.

Bet of the Day

Crystal Palace to beat Rayo Vallecano in 90 minutes @ 20/23

Crystal Palace have been way off the pace in the Premier League this season, but they have a chance of European glory and it’s a chance the Eagles should take.

There is no doubt that the sale of key defender Marc Guehi and the announcement that manager Glasner would be leaving in the summer derailed Palace’s domestic campaign. But the Eagles have remained focused in Europe and they are a side with a high ceiling.

The south Londoners crushed Shakhtar Donetsk 5-2 on aggregate in the semi-finals of the continental competition, and Zrinjski Mostar, AEK Larnaca and Fiorentina all fell to the Eagles in the knockout stage of the tournament.

Glasner’s side hit a total of 26 shots and expected goal figures of 3.05 and 1.43 over two legs of their tie with a good Fiorentina side and that indicates the high level which the south Londoners can reach.

Clearly, the Premier League form hasn’t been great, but this is still a side which has beaten Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton, Liverpool and Newcastle this season. And there is no doubt that Palace are a better side than their league position suggests.

Rayo Vallecano are no push overs, but the Red Sashes only just about clung on against AEK Athens in the quarter-finals and there progressed to the final following a pair of narrow 1-0 victories over Strasbourg.

Inigo Perez’s men could be stifled and constricted by Palace in the Leipzig final and the Eagles are fancied to claim a second major trophy in two seasons with a victory in 90 minutes.

Ismaila Sarr to score and Crystal Palace to win @ 41/20

Ismaila Sarr has been Crystal Palace’s standout attacker this season, and the Senegalese has hit 21 goals for the south Londoners.

The 28-year-old has struck four times in his last six appearances for the Eagles and Sarr has found the net in all of Palace’s last five Conference League matches.

The former Watford man was on penalty-taking duty in a 2-2 draw with Brentford and that only increased the chances of Sarr finding the net.

Palace are fancied to win the Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano, with the Eagles having the quality, tactical acumen and physicality to dominate the Spanish side. Sarr is set to find the net in a Red Bull Arena success for the south London side.

Longshot of the day

Declan Rice to win the World Cup Player of the Tournament award @ 20/1

Declan Rice is fresh from lifting the Premier League title with Arsenal and the Champions League trophy could follow for the midfielder.

Soon Rice’s attention will turn to England and the summer’s World Cup, and it would be no surprise if the 27-year-old dragged the Three Lions to victory, much like he has with the Gunners this term.

England are only 6/1 to lift the greatest prize in international football, and if Thomas Tuchel’s men are successful, then the 20/1 about Rice being named the tournament’s best performer will look a huge price.
