talkSPORT betting tips – Best racing bets and expert advice for Thursday at York

Day two of the 2026 Dante Festival takes place at York on Thursday with the feature of the day being the Dante Stakes, which could potentially provide Derby clues for racing fans.

Aside from the Dante, there is the Group 2 Middleton Fillies stakes, as well as a host of other competitive races for punters to get stuck into.

George Bonds has a trio of selections on the card, including one in both Group 2 contests and another in the listed Westow Stakes.

Thursday’s York tips

  • 15:30 York – See the Fire @ 6/5
  • 16:05 York – Christmas Day @ 2/1
  • 16:40 York – Revival Power @ 11/4

15:30 York – See the Fire @ 6/5

The Middleton Fillies Stakes rarely sees a large field and this year is no exception with only four runners set to battle it out.

However, despite the small race size the competition is still fierce. The racing titans of Juddmonte, Godolphin and Wathnan are set to be represented in this race, and while they hold their merits, the selection goes to See the Fire for owner Jeff Smith.

Trained by Andrew Balding, See the Fire was a close runner up in the Prix de L’Opera at Longchamp in October on ground that wasn’t in her favour.

She was unable to back up that performance when disappointing at the Breeders’ Cup to see out her season, but she was able to get things back on track when returning to winning ways at Nottingham last time out in a listed event.

Balding’s mare was a 12-length winner in this contest last year, and with that run at Nottingham under her belt, she looks difficult to oppose.

16:05 York – Christmas Day @ 2/1

The feature of the day at York is the Group 2 Dante Stakes, which has often served as a good opportunity for three-year-olds to lay down their credentials for the Epsom Derby in June.

A total of 11 Dante winners have gone on to land success in the Derby, and despite having not won the race since 2010,  Aidan O’Brien will be hoping that trend can continue with Christmas Day.

Christmas Day was impressive when landing the Group 3 Ballysax Stakes at Leopardstown last time out and he appears to be a good stayer, while having Ryan Moore on board is a definite advantage.

William Haggas looks well represented with Morshdi, who was an impressive winner in a listed contest at Newmarket last time out, and he looks to pose the main threat to the selection.

16:40 York – Revival Power @ 11/4

The penultimate race of the day will be a listed event for three-year-olds over five furlongs.

As often is the case with these races, an argument can be made for many of the runners, but it is Tim Easterby’s Revival Power that appears to be the pick of the bunch.

She enjoyed a solid juvenile campaign, highlighted by her success in the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster in September, and she is clearly a filly that possesses a lot of speed.

She was caught out on her most recent showing at Newmarket, but she will have learned a lot from that effort and a return to a track she knows well at York can provide her with the platform to bounce back.
